Etienne AVRIL

Etienne AVRIL (1748-1791)

Master on November 23, 1774. Nicknamed "Avril the Elder", he was established rue de Charenton. He received orders for the apartment of Queen Marie-Antoinette at the Château de Saint-Cloud. He gave his shop to his brother Pierre shortly before the Revolution.

The mahogany and satin wood dominate its production. He is an adept of rigorous lines, simple and large smooth surfaces in the Louis XVI style.. The forms are clean, light, well proportioned, bronzes virtually nonexistent.
