Large Provençal Mirror With Pareclose 18th Century Period
Large carved and gilt wood parclose mirror, decorated with grapes and vine leaves. The pediment is richly ornamented with a cornucopia ending in a shell motif. Provençal work, known as “Beaucaire” style, mid-18th century. Dimensions : 187 cm x 102 cm. Condition : Sold as is. Wear and restoration to the gilding, losses, central mirror plate of later date, several of the parclose mirror plates damaged; see photographs. This type of mirror is traditionally referred to as a “Beaucaire mirror,” in reference to the famous fair held in the town of Beaucaire (Gard) during the 18th century. Although it was most likely not manufactured in Beaucaire itself, it is a common Provençal model.

Sauteuse Commode Transition Period In Marquetry
Transition Chest Of Drawers with musical attributes in rosewood, amaranth, green tinted sicamore, lemon tree marquetry. It opens with two drawers without crosspiece, slight central projection, curved legs, the front has a marquetry with the attributes of music, the sides with urns. Ornamentation of gilded bronze (handles, falls and hooves), marble top breccia of Aleppo, trace of stamp. French work partly from the 18th century (restoration on the drawers dating from the 19th century)

The Ferryman of Belo on Tsiribihina, January 1953, Oil on cardboard signed Robert Fernier (1895-1977) The Tsiribihina River is located in Madagascar and borders the town of Belo, where a ferry is still the only way to cross today. A student of Fernand Cormon's studio, Robert Fernier was awarded the Gold Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1932. From 1950 he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. He was the author of Gustave Courbet's catalogue raisonné and president of the Association of Friends of Gustave Courbet.
